History of the Blues
Nicknamed for their distinctive blue trousers, the modern dress blues have a long and storied tradition. Their blue hue is an homage to the founding of the Republic.

In the 2010s, the ASU was the only authorized service uniform. It was worn on a daily basis throughout the Army like business casual attire.

With the reintroduction of the Army Green Service Uniform in 2020, that business casual role was filled. The blue ASU is now back to its role of being worn for special formal occasions like events and parades.
